September 5 - Mosteller Epilogue

38th Annual Mosteller Cup Trial is in the books!
Saturday morning riders had beautiful weather but the afternoon group started out with rain and had that off and on. One dirt hillside section was closed due to mud. The Saturday evening potluck and BBQ went well until around dark when the thunderstorm, rain and hail scattered everyone to shelter. Thanks to Craig and Logan for the grill and cooking!
Sunday was overcast but overall great riding weather. It wasn't until everyone gathered for awards that the sky opened up with heavy rain and hail. Somehow most everyone squeezed in underneath two 10 x 10 easy ups while awards were announced and until the storm passed.
So, we had 94 riders including 13 juniors and 13 riders for the Mountain West Vintage. A really good turnout. Miles Morgan won the big cup again this year with 4 riders in the Pro class.
As always there's too many people to thank for their help, we can't do this without you, so a BIG thanks to all that pitched in with:
Trialsmasters
Riders
Sign-up
Scoring

So far we've picked up some info for NMTA, WTA, RMTA, NATC and of course WMTA and it's compiled together in one calendar for ya. It'll be updated with new info and changes as they're received. November 28th - From Our Trials Friends in Utah

Ok Trials fans. Here's the skinny for the 2016 Utah Summer Games MotoTrials at the Three Peaks Rec area in Cedar City, UT. It will be a two day event, June 4th and 5th. You can ride either Saturday or both days. Saturday will be a WTA points meet, and you will also be able to win a USG medal! For those who want to ride both days, Sunday's winners will be determined from the combined two day scores. USG medals will also be given out for Sunday, which means a rider could possibly score two USG medals!
Everyone who rides, either one day or both will get a USG t-shirt. Ride fee's are $20 for Saturday and $40 for both days.
The Utah Summer games event in Cedar City is much like the Summer Olympics. There are over 3000 participants from Utah and the surrounding states competing in dozens of sports from soccer to archery. MotoTrials is the ONLY motorized sport in the USG. If you've never ridden at Three Peaks, then you've missed one of the primo riding venues in the nation. Those who have ridden at Three Peaks know what a terrific place it is to ride. So mark your calendars for June 4th and 5th, 2016 for the Utah Summer Games MotoTrials!

Observers Needed - The WMTA sure could use your help. August 8th and 9th we're hosting 2 NATC national rounds in Midwest WY. We're asking for anyone who can help to consider observing a section one or both days. We've setup an online information and volunteer form which also has a link to the "NATC Observer Training Video".
So what's the observers role you ask? Look over the form and watch the video here then if you can help, type in your information. Please Contact us with any questions and concerns.

May 24th - Rounds 3 & 4, New Location and Date

Since the Sundance trial has been cancelled we're announcing a new time and location for WMTA rounds 3 & 4. The rounds will be held June 20 and 21, Fathers Day weekend at Mosteller Ranch in Casper.
We'll be riding with the Mountain West Vintage Trials Association at their scheduled meet at Mostellers. After hearing about our dilema the MWVTA Board welcomed the WMTA to share the ride saying "working together to promote trials is key to everyones success".
We'll be sharing sections but riders will be scored by their respective club. If you're a member of both and ride the same line in each, you can sign up for both club events in one ride.

May 22nd - NEEDED: Medicine Bow Cup Trialsmasters

In the post below, it's mentioned that the Medicine Bow Cup is ON at Grayrocks Ranch (as usual) but we REALLY NEED TRIALSMASTERS.
LOOK > WMTA members get 23 points for one day as a Trialsmaster towards year-end Championships and you don't even have to ride.
Click Contact Us in the Nav Bar above to email, call or text to volunteer or if you have questions.

May 20th - Schedule Updates

The Sundance Trial scheduled for June 6 and 7 is NOT going to be held in that location or as scheduled. We are working on alternative locations and times. Watch this web site and the WMTA Facebook page for further updates.
It is confirmed the Medicine Bow Cup Trial will be held as planned. Rumors that the land had been sold turned out to be unfounded. Yay!

May 18th - Rounds 1 & 2 Results Posted

Rounds 1 & 2 finally happened and are in the books. We had a sunny warm-ish Saturday with 33 riders and a rainy cold Sunday with 35 but everyone agreed both days were great fun. Can't thank Eastgate Ranch enough for allowing our club the use of their "perfect for trials" property.
At Saturday evenings annual pizza/dinner meeting year-end number plates and Trialsmaster sweatshirts were handed out. Information about the upcoming National rounds was shared. New board members Bruce and Bob volunteered to help fill in the gaps left by outgoing board members Derek and Brian. Thanks to Mosteller Repair for the facilities.

August 12th - Mosteller Cup, Year of the Hogback

The Hat Six Hogback forms the familiar East vertical geographic boundary of the area we use for Trials at Mosteller Ranch. A fire last September burned away a lot of the vegetation exposing a few section-worthy spots that we couldn't see before. So, the temptation was there to have more hogback sections.

July 29th, sealed that deal. An evening storm dropped more rain onto the burn scarred Mosteller land than it could absorb and the resultant flood had it's way with the once familiar landscape along Muddy Creek. Overnight almost all of the tried-and-true creek sections we've used in the past were rendered unusable. This year, over half of the Saturday and Sunday sections will be on the hogback. Bring shade just in case you might be checking on the hogback.

The .kmz file (below) shows the planned section locations. There's 20 Sat-Sun sections for the Mosteller Cup, AHRMA and ITSA riders. Also included are 11 Mon sections for the ITSA only day. Right-click on the file choose to save it to your computer, then open it in Google Earth.

July 31st - Mosteller Flood Update

Since the last Mosteller Cup, wildfire last September and now flood have made over the beautiful property we've come to know so well into a dramtically different landscape. Our thoughts are with everyone at the Mosteller Ranch, now in the midst of clean-up and recovery of their homes, belongings, land and lives.

Tuesday morning ...

"So Mother Nature says. "If we can't burn it down, let's flood it!" From fire to flood...not sure how much more Mosteller Ranch can take...our house will survive but Charlie and Sandy' s was hit pretty bad, Kenny has damage too. I have NEVER seen water like that. The power is now back on but phones are still down." -- Lori Mosteller

Monday evening, Bob and I have just roughed-in two more sections along the hogback. Charlie and Randy (Mosteller) are mowing the grass in the Girl Scout Camp. Off to the Southwest, thunder, lightning and ominous clouds are building. We decide to park the 4-wheeler and motorcycle to resume another day this week then scout for additional sections by truck to the South. Once we return to the truck, we see the storm is much closer and decide to head back to town for the day. On the way bands of heavy rain diminish visibility and slow our travel.

Tuesday. After reading Lori's Facebook posts throughout the day, we head to the ranch after work. Bob had his skid steer in tow to leave with the Mostellers to use for cleanup. We head off to assess the damage to the trial.

My TLR is laying in and covered with mud from the flood. Bob's 4-wheeler is remarkably unscathed although the trailer full of section setting stuff is encased in mud. All the ribbon we stored here (8000 + feet) is gone and strewn for a half mile downstream, some as high as 10 feet up in the trees. All supplies lost.

We had 15 sections planned in the creek and ALL are completely different after the flood and unridable. Every drainage is full of rocks and the vegetation has been stripped away. The Waterfall section next to camp is gone, the creek crossing there is gone. Virtually nothing West into the fish pond canyon we've used before is usable anymore.

GONE!

Quite a setback for us but today, we start over in the quest for creek sections.

Ok, so you may never believe us again. If it isn't mother nature, it's "the Man" messing with our plans.
The trial has been moved to the Shannon Pool, same place it was last year, due to incomplete processing of the permit by the BLM.
The map on the flier is correct except the new location is about 2 miles further North on County Road 116, then left, look for ribbon.

May 22nd - Trees for Mostellers Update

Over the past four weeks a lot has happened with this. Bob Strohman headed-up this project and placed an order in March from the County Ag extension for 120 pine trees. Those came in four weeks ago, and three weeks ago the planting began and was completed in one weekend. The following weekend a poly-pipe drip system was installed to make watering a one-man job. (hauling water from the creek for 100+ trees with 6 gallon buckets was no fun)
The cost totaled $675 and the entire amount was covered by donations from the WMTA and it's membership.
Thanks to all those who donated time and money to support the project.

April 26th - CORRECTION - Spark Arresters

After a conversation with the Casper BLM Office Recreation Planner, it turns out that spark arresters are NOT required at this time for the Poison Spider OVH Park.

April 23rd - Rounds 1 & 2 Rescheduled, May 4 & 5

The BLM's Poison Spider OHV Park will be venue to the first two rounds of 2013. Use conflicts at the Hat Six Rocks forced our hand and permission was secured to use the BLM's OHV Park BOTH days, May 4th and 5th. Yay! BLM. Saturday evening we'll have the annual meeting at Mosteller Repair.

Wyoming OHV stickers must be displayed and spark arresters are required.
No overnight camping is allowed at this venue, please make other arrangements.

See the flyer we already mailed out or see it here for location map and directions. Current information will be posted here and the Wyoming MotoTrials Facebook page.

You can find the current schedule here.

April 20th - "Ch-Ch-Changes" -- David Bowie

We're working with the BLM and Eastgate Ranch on rescheduling the cancelled April rounds in Casper for May 4th and 5th.
A new flier will not be mailed out, current information will be posted here and the Wyoming MotoTrials Facebook page.

You can find the current schedule (tentative of course) here.

April 11th - Rounds 1 & 2 Update

The Eastgate ranch manager has expressed some concern about muddy conditions on the ranch road between the gate and where we usually park so please do your best to minimize road damage.

April 10th - Rounds 1 & 2 * NEWSFLASH *

Rounds 1 & 2 this weekend are ON! The change is ... BOTH days will be at Hat Six Rocks on the Eastgate Ranch. This avoids the clay at Poison Spider that makes it so unfriendly when its wet. This is a fantastic trials-friendly venue with lots of pines growing out of a large outcrop of sandstone.

This area is day use only, no camping. Please make arrangements to overnight somewhere else.

April 10th - Rounds 1 & 2 Could be Cancelled

Casper had 14 inches of snow in the past 2 days and there's not much of a warm-up forecast for the next couple of days. Given that, the first two rounds may be cancelled or postponed. The decision has not yet been made on this.

If this event has to be cancelled or postponed it will be posted on this web page and on the Wyoming Mototrials Facebook page.

March 26th - Flier for Rounds 1 & 2 Available

The flier for round 1 at the Poison Spider OHV Park and round 2 at Hat Six Rocks is now available and will be mailed soon.
Don't forget to get your Wyoming OHV stickers for round 1.

March 21st - * Schedule Changes *

A couple of schedule changes to be aware of.
1. The McKinney Ranch venue near Lander cannot be used, so the Midwest trials have been moved into those scheduled May dates.
2. A venue and Trialsmaster(s) for the scheduled June dates left open by the Midwest move have not yet been determined. Volunteers and suggestions are welcome. You can find the current schedule here.

March 13th - Round 1, OHV Stickers Required

For our first round April 13th at the BLM's Poison Spider OHV Park in Casper, Wyoming OHV Stickers are required for all bikes and ATV's that are ridden there. It's likely that the BLM will be there checking for the stickers and the fine for not having one is $95.
Since these stickers are also required for the Limestone Road weekend in August it's a good time to take care of it for the year.
*OHV Stickers* can be purchased at any Wyoming OHV dealership or online at the Wyoming State Trials Program web site.

April 12th - * CANCELLED * Rounds 1 & 2

Mother nature has won. A new round of snow today has squelched any chance we had of running the trials this weekend. Sorry -- we tried.
If the trials are to be rescheduled, it'll be posted here and Facebook.

January 2nd - Trees for Mostellers

Bob Strohman recently talked to the Mostellers about how the WMTA may help in the aftermath of the devestating fire last September. As a result, Bob has purchased 100 trees to be planted at the Mosteller Ranch in the Spring to replace some of the ones destroyed in the fire. Due to limited availability, the trees had to be ordered early to assure we would get them. Club members and friends can help out by volunteering with the tree planting when the time comes, donating $ to reimburse Bob, or both! We'll be planning a planting day, probably in May or June, more on this later. Questions? Click "Contact Us" in the Nav Bar above and email, call or text.

January 1st - Happy New Year!

Tentatively, the Board will be meeting on the 12th to get things going for 2013. After that, we should have a tentative schedule and more information to share. The "Fun Trials" we've been doing to open and close the season the past few years will probably be discontinued in 2013. If so, all weekends will have two rounds to be counted for points. Stay tuned!

We're planning on using Hat Six Rocks for both days and changing the fun day to a bonafide round so we'll have a total of 11 rounds for the season. Of course there won't be a "fun day" as we've had in the past.

The Sheep Herder Hill fire is close to the Eastgate Ranch / Hat Six Rocks so access and communications are currently hampered by road blocks and a busy rancher.

September 11th - Mosteller Ranch - Fire Update

The Sheep Herder Hill fire has had it's way with Mosteller Ranch.

Lori says "The houses have survived....nothing else has....the entire ranch went up in flames. We got all the people and animals out also. August 25th - More Mosteller Update...

Work at the Mosteller Ranch is coming along well. We've got 11 sections for Saturday and 10 for Sunday. The Mosteller's have been watering the camp area so there's a spot of green in this otherwise drought stricken region. Outside of camp everything is dry and dusty. Suprisingly, water levels in the creeks seem normal.

Please keep your speed down to 15mph when coming in on the gravel/dirt road to keep the neighbors happy, there's no fires allowed (county ban), no unnecessary pit/camp area riding. In the pasture above (West) of camp riding/camping is restricted to the area between the creek and the existing two track road.

July 5th - Fire Update and Smoke

Mike Buchholz is on site and reports very wet conditions as a passing storm has watered down the area, and appears to be heading towards the Arapahoe fire. Lets hope that helps the fire and settles the dust for us.

I've been asked to pass along to anyone with respiratory problems and children, smokey conditions may exist and this should be taken into consideration if you think you'll be coming to the trial.

July 3rd - MBC Fire Update

There has been some concern regarding the Arapahoe Fire currently burning some 8 miles South of the Grayrocks trials site. Brian contacted the land owner today and he doesn't think the fire should cause any problems for us over the weekend. Regardless, if you plan to attend, be prepared to react to changing conditions. If the event has to be cancelled, that cancellation will be posted here, so check back before heading out.

We weren't able to hold the Saturday Fun Trial due to wet conditions. The Coates setup gate sections for us in their infamous shale pit but as many of us know, when it's wet, getting down there is not the problem.
Sunday, twenty-nine riders signed-up for round one. Conditions included temperatures around 35 degrees and regular snow squalls covering the ground and melting into flowing runoff that added to the difficulty of every section. Dispite the weather everyone had a great time and another memorable trial is in the books.

Brian Martinson did a great job laying them out and threw in a 50 point "bonus" section that could be ridden once. Shad Petersen is the only rider to attempt it and receive 50 bonus points.

I've just found out that the championship plates that were going to be handed out at the Saturday meeting are not going to be here. April 7th - For Member Consideration...

As the 2011 annual meeting draws near, my term as Secretary will be coming to an end.
I have no desire to continue organizing sign-up and running the meets so we'll need someone else to step up and take care of that. I'm much more comfortable providing support in the background such as maintaining the WMTA web site. I would like to continue to co-trialsmaster the Mosteller Cup/AHRMA meet, continue to work with AHRMA to see the club hosting 2 or 3 of their National rounds per year.
This year we'll be electing three new board members to replace outgoing Dan Straka, Doug Wilson, and Derek Martinson elected in 2009. Those elected will join current board members Shad Peterson and Bruce Coates for the 2011 season.
Historically, just about all club responsibilities were managed soley by Fred... a task that takes a special person. Unless there is someone who is willing to take it all on as Fred did, I think it might be worth a try to distribute the duties necessary for the club to be run among the board members and any volunteers from the general membership that have a talent the club can benefit from. Something to ponder before the meeting. Volunteers welcome.

This is just an idea and I don't know if it would work, but maybe as we elect new board members, their duties could be spelled out a little better than has been done in the past to break up the responsibilities along these lines.

Board Member - Secretary
Responsible for maintaining and posting relavent content to the WMTA web site, serves as pointskeeper, secures annual club insurance, plans season schedule, coordinates with trialsmasters, creates event fliers and organizes the annual meeting, works sign-up as needed.

Board Member - Treasurer
Responsible for managing the club's checking account, annually files the club as a Non-Profit Corporation with the state, provides a treasurer's report for annual meeting, maintains membership list, will be present at meets to collect membership and entry fees, brings change to meets, prints mailing labels, works sign-up as needed.

Board Member - Supply Manager
Responsible for meet supplies such as ribbon, score cards, split markers, stakes, results posters, tape, punches, pens, binder clips, garbage can/bags, staple guns, staples, making sure needed supplies are at each trials meet and restocking trialsmaster box at each meet, works sign-up as needed.

Board Member - Meets Manager
Responsible for setting up and running sign-up, riders meetings, awards presentations, meet score posters, and coordinates the entire event. Provisions for the medals, trophys, t-shirts, trialsmasters appreciation gift, and cup trial awards, works sign-up as needed.

Board Member
Responsible to fill-in for any board member that cannot be at a meet or not fulfill their responsibilities in any other way, works sign-up as needed.

The board member duties described here could be shared, traded or otherwise rearranged among the board members or be performed by WMTA general members to take advantage of any skill or desire that a person may have as long as the duties required to run the club are performed.

I believe it may be beneficial to the Trialsmasters if their duties were identified a little better.

Trialsmasters
Responsible for loop trail and section construction. Communicating and scheduling with venue holders and communicating this information to the WMTA Secretary prior to the next season unless flexible enough to accept whatever the Board comes up with for a season schedule. Making sure venue holder is compensated.

Your thoughts or want to volunteer?

August 16th - Limestone Meet...till we meet again

On Saturday morning the South-Eastern end of the Wind River mountains were wet from overnight rain and socked-in with a ceiling below the 8800 foot high venue for thw WMTA's August trial. The temperature read 38 degrees outside the truck as we turned off Limestone Road into the trials site.
All that quickly burned off and left us with a dry weekend of perfect temperatures for trials'n. Dirk and Rob had 10 great sections ready for our 10:00am start as the upper classes broke them all in for us. The length of the loop and technical sections had those riders struggling to stay within the 3.5 hour time limit. No one ran out if time but the limit was relaxed to 4 hours for the support classes in the afternoon to keep things safe.
Saturday evening Dirk, Roger (and whoever else was involved) followed through with their plan for a pig roast and with everyone providing something for the pot-luck, no one went hungry.
Sunday, Clay and Mark had laid out a little shorter loop and 10 more great sections to test our mettle. We had 44 riders including 7 Junior riders. Some travelled from Colorado, Idaho, Montana and Utah to ride this incredible venue the Forest Service allows us to ride.

Side Note: Chris found a 4-way lug wrench and a screw jack handle while walking the camp area. Let us know if they're yours. Will be available at the Mosteller Cup.

July 6th - Another Medicine Bow Cup now behind us

Rounds 6 and 7 near Esterbrook, WY are now history. The Independence Day weekend forecast called for temperatures 10 degrees below the normal 90 degree highs, a welcome deprature, and Saturday didn't dissapoint. Dispite the green, lush vegitation produced from a wet spring, we were bestowed with 10 dry sections and a dusty loop trail then that evening a storm rolled through at dusk quieting camp and sending everyone in. Sunday we woke to light rain, fog and temps in the 50's. The Trialsmasters set 12 sections for us and we got started on time. Things started to dry out after the morning support classes rode a couple of loops and the upper classes started the afternoon with sunshine. After an hour and a half, moderate to heavy rain set in till 4:30 rendering the recently dried out rocks slippery and difficult again.
We had 58 riders Saturday and 59 Sunday including 6 Juniors, a very good turn-out augmented nicely by a contingency of our good trials friends from Colorado, Idaho, Montana and even Pennsylvania.
The Medicine Bow Cup was awarded to Ryan Matteson of Big Timber, MT...Congratulations Ryan!
Stay tuned for the results and a few pictures.

Saturday's tie between brothers Guy and Marc Chapman as well as Sunday's tie between brothers Brian and Derek Martinson were broken by first point scored wherein the rider who was first to score a point during the trial is trumped by the other. A few pics coming soon!

June 13th - Midwest Monsoon - for the Ducks!

Rounds 4 and 5 in Midwest Wyoming went on dispite endless rain and temps straining to reach 50. The 22 sections planned for both days were reduced to 8 sections that were setup on sandstone outcrops, ridden normally on Saturday and the same sections ridden backwards on Sunday. The unused 14 sections were rendered unridable by the relentless rain. The pits/camp were graced with ankle-deep mud in places but dispite the conditions, 31 riders competed on Saturday. Sunday there was a bit less rain and we had 41 riders including 4 juniors. Riders donned trash bags, duct tape, nitrile gloves, Carhartts, slickers, dusters, actual modern rain gear and any combination thereof to thwart off the monsoonal moisture. Most rider comments overheard were about how much fun they were having.
This meet drew riders from Colorado, Idaho, Montana and even Pennsylvania. Many thanks to the Midwest Trialsmasters for their timely reconfiguration of the trial for the weather conditions and all the work they did in vain.
Iiams cup recipients for 2010 are Shawn Rivers and Bruce Coates for the support classes, they tied with 40 cleans each. Kenny Mosteller edged out the competetion for the upper classes Iiams cup with 45 cleans.

The unique sandstone formations at Eccles Ranch provided dramatic backdrops and challenging obstacles for the weekend. Saturday was a bit cold and overcast but turnout was good with 33 riders. On Sunday there was a big improvement in the weather with sunshine and temperatures in the 60's. Again, we saw 33 riders competing.
One point of interest was the Pro class riders had sections so technical that they did not have time to ride their third loop either day. Finish was determined from two loop scores.

May 18th - Long Sleeve T's and Hoodies?

If you haven't already let us know, time's running out to get your long sleeve "Cup" t-shirts for the Medicine Bow Cup and Mosteller Cup.

At the Powder River meet, interest was high and several orders were placed for hoodie sweatshirts with WMTA graphics. Fred is looking into the cost for full-zip .vs. pull-over hoodie styles.
If the cost differential is not too much we might go with the zipper style. The cost for pull-overs would be around $25.00 and more for zip. If you'd like to reserve one or if you have any good ideas for the graphics let us know.

WMTA News: October 5th - Have any 2009 Pictures?

If you've taken photos this season that you would like to see posted on the web site, use the "Contact Us" button above to get the ball rollling. Go through your photos and select only the funniest or best of 'em, or the best one of each rider from a trial, copy them to a CD and mail. If you only have a couple you can probably just email. Usual resolution we use for web publishing is 1024x768.

WMTA News: October 5th - Last Round of the Season

The last round of the season at Hat Six Rocks is done. We had eight sections set by Trialsmasters Mike and Miles Morgan. Twenty-four riders competed, rode in groups and we were done around 1:30...just before the weather started getting ugly. It never got over 40 degrees and the East wind must've had the wind chill below freezing, but I never hreard any complaints and the riders had a lot of fun.

The results will be posted soon, click the "Standings" link above in a few days. Also, season standings will be figured-up and should be available for viewing in a couple of weeks.

WMTA News: October 3rd - Gate Trial at Coates Ranch

DANG - That was fun! Twenty-one riders and a twenty section - three loop course for a total of sixty sections in one day...for most of us. This time the riders were placed in major class groups for results. After the sixty sections, for those who hadn't had enough fun already, there was a five section - three loop shootout in which ten riders participated.

A big thanks (and future invitations) to Rodger Hushka who showed up with a never ending supply of breakfast burritos, pork chops and brauts for everyone throughout the day.

WMTA News: September 18th - Riley's Dad has MORE news...

Received via Evelyn Peacock today...

“Surgery went pretty well. the ligaments, tendons, and nerves were crushed but NOT severed. The thumb was 65 % severed though. One main artery was severed and the other was crushed. The doc says the thumb could most likely survive if that one artery will repair and re-inflate. The one severed artery was too small to repair and he felt he could do more damage to the surrounding veins (return blood supply) trying to repair the severed and smashed arteries.
His thumb did turn black and we have been keeping the tissue alive by diving Riley in a hyperbaric chamber twice a day. the black was completely gone by this Wednesday but he had to skip Thursday treatment to go see the surgeon in SLC and the black is already coming back. His surgeon says the real test will come when we take him off the hyperbaric and right now that is looking poor. His injury never really bled which is concerning but yesterday we saw some tiny blood drops on his bandages. A good sign I think....if the one artery can get flowing I think we can deal with the remaining challenges.
He has just started to have some real intense pain bouts, only a few but it is nearly as bad as when the injury took place. He says its the whole thumb which I am encouraged by....I think it means the nerves are starting to work again. He is really being so tough though. His big relief came when he came out of surgery and he still had his thumb........that was his first question when he first opened his eyes. It will take a lot more fight, faith, prayers and hope to keep it now.
I had ordered a pair of trials boots for him before we came over to Casper and they finally arrive a few days after he was home. I waited another couple of days and asked him if he wanted me to return them and he said no. I think he is thinking about coming back once he heals, I just hope he can keep that thumb.”

WMTA News: September 14th - Last Meet of Season UPDATED

From Casey Coates - "The fun trial will be a 20 section gate trial format. We will allow camping on the ranch, but we will ask that "NO" dogs be brought onto the ranch."
Current plans are to have a "fun" trial at Coates Ranch in West Casper on Saturday, October 3rd and the final round of the season at Hat Six Rocks on Sunday October 4th. Flier to be published here and mailed out in a couple of weeks or so.

WMTA News: September 9th - Riley's Dad has news...

"When I got back to the hospital they had decided that the damage to Riley's thumb was out of the scope of their abilities, primarily due to the vascular injuries. They felt better about sending him to Primary Childrens in SLC where they had a vascular surgeon. So he was life flighted from Casper to SLC. My wife met Riley at the hospital and Dr's there did surgery at 7:30pm. They worked on him for 2 hrs. The circulation in his thumb is improving slowly, they are also diving him in a hyperberic chamber twice daily and we are hopeful that it will all work. The ligaments, tendons and nerves were smashed but not severed and we are sure that the many payers and good thoughts offered in his behalf have been answered. He just needs the arteries to heal and real blood flow to return now. Please tell the good folks that were there to help Riley how thankful I am for their help." (edited to save space)

WMTA News: September 8th - Mosteller Cup

The 31st Annual Mosteller Cup and AHRMA 3-day Nationals have come and gone. We had 66 riders in the cup trial with the largest classes being Advanced with 11 riders, Amateur with 8 and Veteran Intermediate with 7. Mosteller Cup results will be added soon in the year standings.
There were 56 riders on the AHRMA lines, 31 of which rode all three rounds. AHRMA riders from CO, TN, NY, CA, MT, SD, NM, UT, ID , ND and even NY came all the way here to ride the unique Mosteller terrain. As usual everyone had their fair share of water, tight turns, mud, rocks and logs.
Thanks to ALL those who checked sections and those who helped at the sign-up table. Thanks to John Lever and Denise Underwood for supplying the grill that we used Staurday night and Brian Martinson for volunteering to cook.

Our good Friend "Granny" Bunker has passed away on Aug 18th. Granny was a regular at the WMTA's cup meets for many years. I know we all have fond memories of riding with him. He was a good friend and is sorely missed. J Sheets has posted an announcement, see link below.

WMTA News: August 7th - Mosteller Cup Update

Notes from Mosteller Cup Trials site...
Brush is heavy after an unusually wet Spring and Summer. We've got 10 sections picked out for Saturday, several of which are new! Each new section is requiring a couple of hours to get cleaned out. Currently clearing deadfall and over growth for Monday loop and sections. The waterfall section just West of the pits has been resurrected for 2009. The general plan is, Saturday's sections will be N of the pits along the creek, Sundays sections will be SSW to the fenceline along the creek and road, then Monday we'll be heading West up into the fish ponds canyon.
Updated online fliers for the AHRMA National and WMTA Mosteller Cup should be posted soon!

Thanks to our Trialsmasters Reagan Davis, Robert Schmidt, Jim Johnston and Mark Franklin for setting some very technical sections. We're still working on getting the results posted, stay tuned for those in the next week or two.

WMTA News: June 25th, 2009

Here's a bit of news from Dallas Peak. He, Ron Anderson and Barry Matlack are the Medicine Bow Cup Trialsmasters this year.

"Had a dental appointment in Douglas yesterday so afterwards headed up to Spring Hill for a hike and started laying out a loop. Everything looks to be OK and hopefully we'll have a good event. It's been awhile since we rode there but I remembered the granite rock as less fatiguing to ride than Gray Rocks and it should be. I also went over to the Lodge and it is closed. Supposed to open on the 3rd of July. Weekends only, bar only with no food except some appetizers served."
